Minimum Standards
In order to be accepted in to a Entry Level position with the City of Fort Worth Fire Department applicants must meet a specific criteria set forth for all City of Fort Worth employees. This is a basic overview of minimum standards ask of any applicant for firefighter.
1). Age: a). At least 18 years of by the time of entrance examination. b). A person may not be certified as eligible for a beginning position in a fire department if the person is 36 years of age or older. 2). Education: a). High school diploma b). G.E.D. equivalent c). 12 semester credit hours from an accredited college or university. Any of the above are acceptable 3). Driving History: a). Must have valid drivers license and be able to obtain Texas Class B license. b). No more than three hazardous moving violations in last two years (24 months). c). No license suspensions in last two years (24 months). 4). Criminal History: a). No felony conviction at all b). No conviction for offense above Class C misdemeanor in the last five years.
