Physical Ability Test (PAT)

Each applicant must pass a physical ability assessment, as

prescribed by the Fort Worth Fire Department and approved by

the Fort Worth Civil Service Commission, demonstrating the

applicant is physically capable of performing the essential job

functions for the position of firefighter. 

The exam consist of the following six events performed in

succession, the exam is pass/fail, maximum time allowed is

5 minutes 30 seconds. 

1). Humat and Boot Bag Carry
 

2). Fan Carry
 

3). Ladder Extension
 

4). Hose Load Carry/Stair Climb

5). Hose Advance
 

6). Victim Rescue
